The upgrading of Albert Park sporting ground was based on the growing needs of the community and providing a home ground for key outdoor sports in Gympie. Council aims to provide a quality multi-sport and recreation facility - home to Gympie’s only touch and athletics facilities and a premier bowls complex.
Facilities will be developed to ensure the Park continues to attract regular sporting events, is popular for its recreation opportunities and can accommodate continued membership growth.
The initial upgrades to Albert Park include:
- An entryway with feature timber bollard accents
- A gabion stone wall with park name signage
- Low-level planting and landscaping
- Removal of signage
The landscape outcome and entry signage achieves a consistent look and feel to Lake Alford’s Bruce Highway entrance and reinforces the prominence and appearance of this regional level sports parks for the Gympie region.
The entry statement to Albert Park is now complete and excess signage has been removed. Council will provide community updates as they become available.
