Gympie Regional Council is making significant improvements to Albert Park’s facilities so that it can cater to the growing needs of the community and offer a multi-sport and recreation facility that is of a suitable standard to host regional, state and national events.
The next stage of Albert Park upgrades is a $1 million initiative of the Queensland Government and is being fully funded through the Works for Queensland funding scheme.
At the completion, it is expected that the community and visitors to the region will benefit from:
an upgraded change room and amenities facility
a more suitable multi-tenant storage facility
flexible spectator seating.
Albert Park’s new change rooms and amenities building involves demolition of the existing degraded and outdated facility closest to the Gympie Touch Football Clubhouse and construction of a new building that will meet current and future sporting needs as well as the latest building standards.
Demolition is expected to commence in late May. It is expected that construction will start shortly thereafter.
It is expected that all works relating to this next stage of this project will be completed by mid-2019.
