Gympie Regional Council Flood Mitigation Study10 May 2013, 3:54 PM
Gympie Regional Council’s Flood Mitigation Study is a region-wide project aiming to identify the real cost of flood events and to assess the viability of a range of flood mitigation options based on technical and economic analysis. Ultimately, Council’s objective is to minimise the economic, social, environmental and reputational impact of flood events within a constrained funding environment. This is only possible based on a sound understanding of the real social and economic cost of flood impacts.

This project is about identifying and evaluating potential measures and does not guarantee that funding will be available – rather, Council wants to be in a strong position to negotiate with the Queensland and Australian Governments drawing on a business case that demonstrates the benefit of targeted flood mitigation works.
